After Liam Lawson was promoted to Red Bull to partner with Max Verstappen next year, Racing Bulls also needed to find a replacement for the New Zealander. In recent weeks, there had been much talk about Christian Horner’s interest in Franco Colapinto, but the Argentine option quickly faded due to the numerous accidents the Williams driver had during the Grands Prix.
The final decision has therefore fallen on the Franco-Algerian talent from the Red Bull Junior Program, Isack Hadjar. The 20-year-old, who finished this year’s Formula 2 championship in second place behind Gabriel Bortoleto, will debut in Formula 1 alongside Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda, joining the already large group of rookies we will see on the starting grid in a few months. Below are his statements.
Isack Hadjar’s Statements
After receiving the promotion to Formula 1 with Racing Bulls, Franco-Algerian driver Isack Hadjar described the category as “a completely new universe.”
“I am very excited to start this new role with VCARB; it’s a huge achievement for me, my family, and everyone who has believed in me from the beginning. The journey from karting through the ranks of single-seaters to reaching Formula 1 is the moment I have worked for my entire life—it’s my dream.”
“I feel as though I’m entering a completely new universe, driving a much faster car and competing with the best drivers in the world. It will be a huge learning curve, but I’m ready to work hard and give my best for the team. I can’t wait to work with Yuki and learn from him: I’ve always admired him. He participated in the Red Bull Junior Program like me, and we’ve shared a similar path to F1. He has a lot of experience, and it will be valuable for me to learn from him.”
