Despite an impressive second half of the season, Franco Colapinto does not appear to be part of the grid for 2025. Carlos Sainz is set to take his spot at Williams, and other teams have already finalized their lineups for the upcoming season. The only uncertainty remains within the Red Bull camp, where, if Perez departs, a seat at Racing Bulls could become available. However, that would likely go to Hadjar.
In recent months, one of the options for Colapinto’s future seemed to be with Alpine. However, Flavio Briatore ultimately decided to bet on Doohan for 2025.
That said, there may be clauses in the Australian driver’s contract. According to some rumors, Doohan’s current agreement with the French team is reportedly valid only for the first five races of the next season. This would give Briatore the chance to assess the young driver before making a definitive decision.

Is Colapinto out of the running, then? Not entirely. Based on Flavio Briatore’s latest statements, there remains a slim chance of seeing him at Alpine. “I’m interested in all drivers who are fast,” the Italian entrepreneur said.
“Colapinto has certainly impressed me. However, we already have contracts with Pierre Gasly, Jack Doohan, and Aron for next year,” Flavio Briatore added. “Obviously, if there’s an opportunity to bring Franco on board in 2026, we’ll discuss it.”
“Today, you need to be cautious because one good race can drive up a driver’s price. There’s much more choice compared to the past, and in the junior categories, there are many promising drivers. That’s why we want to focus on developing the drivers in our academy, like Minì, Aron, and Martins,” Flavio Briatore concluded.
