Franco Colapinto’s stock is rising as a possible successor to Sergio Perez and new teammate to Max Verstappen at Red Bull in 2025.
Everyone Wants Franco
The Argentine driver, who has performed well in his five Formula 1 races so far, has quickly become a real star in the paddock, with fans hoping to see him on the grid again next year.
In the Interlagos paddock, Christian Horner, who confirmed his interest in the young talent from Pilar, was spotted near the Williams motorhome a few hours ago, though James Vowles downplayed the moment with a lighthearted comment.
“We recently signed a new coffee sponsor, Reviver by Golf, and he really wanted to try it,” the Williams team principal joked with a smile.
“The best I can say is this: we are exploring possibilities with a number of teams that are currently interested,” James Vowles added more seriously – “Beyond that, it would be wrong to do more than speculate here. There’s nothing to announce at this time. When there is, I’ll be happy to discuss it, because he’s an exceptional driver. I really mean it. Look around. There were tens of thousands of people here supporting a driver who’s been in our championship for just five races. He’s doing an outstanding job on track. And as I said from the start, earn your position and things will come.” – the former Mercedes team member pointed out.
“But beyond that, especially considering he’s a 21-year-old, my responsibility is also to him, making sure we do the right thing. I want to ensure that when there’s news, it’s communicated to the world. There’s not much to talk about right now.” – he continued.
Is a Deal Imminent?
However, according to Argentine journalist Rubén Daray, the agreement between Franco Colapinto and Red Bull seems already settled: “A month ago, we gave you the scoop that Colapinto would stay in Formula 1 until the end of the season. Now I can tell you in advance that Franco Colapinto is already Red Bull’s second driver for 2025.”
