“It was a complicated session where I felt very comfortable at the beginning, then the grip started to increase throughout the session. It’s hard to know which direction to take on these tracks, but I tried to go for the fastest lap and I’m happy to have taken pole. My first lap wasn’t great; I knew there were areas where I could improve, and the second lap was good, and I’m glad the tires held up. I’m excited to start from first position. Goal? I’ll try to win.” – the Australian driver pointed out
The Shootout sessions confirmed expectations going into the weekend in Brazil: the track suits McLaren perfectly. We already saw a first indication yesterday, with McLaren showing clear superiority, leaving behind Charles Leclerc‘s Ferrari and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull. It will be important to monitor race pace, as the format hasn’t shown us much, and there may be surprises.
