Lando Norris arrives in Qatar carrying enormous pressure on his shoulders, with the threat from Max Verstappen growing race after race. Yet the McLaren driver appears surprisingly calm. Norris has often been criticized for supposed mental fragility during high-pressure moments, but despite everything, the current World Championship leader approaches the penultimate round with impressive confidence. Even with the small gap separating him from Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, he has no intention of changing his approach.
Only 24 points separate Lando Norris from both his teammate and the four-time World Champion Max Verstappen, who has clawed back more than 100 points on the two McLaren drivers since the summer break. With two race weekends left and 58 points still available, the tension among the three title contenders will be extremely high, and the situation could change dramatically at any moment.
Norris showed remarkable composure when speaking to journalists, including GP-News.net, on Thursday in Qatar. He explained that his plan for securing his first F1 World Championship title was simply to keep doing what has worked so far. He said his approach over the final two weekends would remain exactly the same as always. He added that he felt great, excited, and ready for the challenge. After the Las Vegas Grand Prix, he allowed himself a few days to relax and clear his mind.
Lando Norris then addressed the biggest threat to his championship hopes: Max Verstappen. He explained that the team had treated Max Verstappen as a danger all season long, even when the Dutchman was far behind in the standings. In every pre-race briefing, they considered him a potential threat because they all know what Max Verstappen can do—and what Red Bull is capable of delivering.
As for his title-winning strategy, Lando Norris stressed that nothing in their approach would change. He noted that neither the engineers nor the mechanics nor himself would alter anything, because changing course made no sense when the team was doing such a strong job. He concluded by saying he was very happy with the work being done and fully confident in continuing with the same mindset.
