Japan is becoming a source of inspiration for several teams this season. Red Bull is set to reveal its new livery later tonight, but this morning, Haas was the first to present a special design dedicated to the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.
The team, led by Ayao Komatsu, decided to modify the livery originally presented last February at the O2 Arena in London specifically for this event.
Suzuka is one of the most beloved tracks among F1 drivers, so Haas F1 chose to embellish its standard livery with cherry blossoms as a tribute to Japan’s cherry blossom season.
Japan has just entered this unique period, which is why pink cherry blossoms and petals will be featured on the front wing (main plane and vertical endplates), as well as on the nose and sidepods of the VF-25.
The Haas logo on the sidepods has also changed color, adopting a white and pink scheme to match the cherry blossom design spread across the car.
Haas comes into the Japanese Grand Prix following a strong result in China, where both Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman finished in the points. After the struggles in Australia, the VF-25 made significant progress on a very different track in Shanghai. It was a positive sign, but now the team must ensure this was not just a brief moment of success.
“We arrive in Japan with much more energy after the great result in Shanghai,” said Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu. “Suzuka is a tough track, both for the drivers and for the engineers when it comes to car setup.”
“Despite the double points finish in China, we know the VF-25 still has major issues, as seen in Melbourne, that we need to address. That’s why in Suzuka, we will try to maximize what we have to bring home the best possible result.” – the Haas team boss concluded.
