How everything can change in just seven days: on March 17, the Haas team was preparing to fly to Shanghai after a rather disastrous Australian weekend (with both drivers outside the points), but in China, everything changed. The improvement of the VF-25 was evident from Friday, with a super Oliver Bearman who managed to place his car in the top ten during the sprint qualifying.
A result that wasn’t replicated in qualifying for Ollie Bearman (who started from 17th place) nor for Esteban Ocon, who narrowly missed Q3 (11th). However, the race took an unexpected turn: the Frenchman not only had a great start but also put on a fantastic race, managing to hold off Kimi Antonelli. Oliver Bearman, on the other hand, gave us one of the most entertaining comebacks: with each overtake to climb up the rankings, he greeted his rivals over the team radio.
The result? Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman finished the race in 7th and 10th positions, respectively. But the disqualification of Leclerc and Hamilton added to the celebration in the Haas team, with the two American drivers advancing and finishing in 5th and 8th positions: the Australian GP became a distant memory, with a total of fourteen points in hand, now just three points behind Ferrari and Williams (with 17 points).
Has Haas regained its form? Last season, the team had a great year, and the hope is that after the Chinese weekend, the American team will continue this positive streak.
