Goals for the 2025 Formula 1 season
Unlike the eight podiums Fernando Alonso achieved in 2023 during his first season with Aston Martin, the past championship proved far more disappointing for the two-time world champion. He never made it into the top three, with a fifth-place finish in Saudi Arabia being his best result. The primary goal is to elevate the competitiveness of the British team to provide Fernando Alonso with the foundation to return to victory, something he hasn’t experienced since 2013.
All-in on investments
To achieve this, Lawrence Stroll, the team owner and father of Fernando Alonso’s teammate Lance, is investing heavily—not only by hiring top-tier specialists like aerodynamic genius Adrian Newey but also by constructing a state-of-the-art factory equipped with the most advanced technologies. Among these is a particularly noteworthy wind tunnel, considered the most modern in the sport. This level of investment has not gone unnoticed by Fernando Alonso, who has been impressed by the constant progress he witnesses every time he visits the factory in Silverstone.
Always something new
The 43-year-old admitted as much on the “Back at Base” podcast, expressing his amazement: “Between races, we’re often there preparing for the next one in the simulator,” he said. “Every time we come to Silverstone, there’s always a surprise waiting for us—a new building or a new facility. It was also overwhelming to see that everything worked flawlessly from day one. This is probably the best job being done in the entire sport. That’s why I think the future of this team is very bright. It’s an attractive place to work for everyone, even for the drivers. I feel privileged and proud to be part of this organization. Hopefully, these significant investments will soon impact our results on the track.”
