Sauber enjoying strong momentum
With a total of 20 points collected over the last three race weekends, the Kick Sauber F1 Team is proving to be the most improved among the midfield squads in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Under the leadership of team principal Mattia Binotto, the Swiss-based team heads to Silverstone for the twelfth round of the World Championship with high morale and a clear objective: to maintain the positive trend and continue their upward trajectory. The team is pushing hard not only on the racetrack but also behind the scenes at the factory — further demonstrated by the arrival of yet another package of car upgrades for the British Grand Prix.
The latest developments appear to have reinforced the team’s confidence to such an extent that experienced driver Nico Hülkenberg will sit out Free Practice 1 at Silverstone to allow young Estonian talent Paul Aron — on loan from the BWT Alpine F1 Team — to take the wheel during that session. Both Nico Hülkenberg and rookie teammate Gabriel Bortoleto shared their thoughts ahead of the iconic race weekend at Silverstone Circuit.
Nico Hülkenberg’s comments
“Scoring two more points in Austria was another great boost for the entire team and a demonstration of what we can achieve when everything comes together,” said German driver Nico Hülkenberg. “We’ve been making steady progress, race after race. The hard work and dedication of everyone in the team — both trackside and back at the factory — are really starting to pay off on the circuit, and that’s very encouraging.”
“There’s still room for improvement, of course, but I’m confident we can continue building on this momentum throughout the remainder of the season. Now I’m looking forward to Silverstone — it’s one of the great classics in the calendar, with some truly spectacular high-speed corners and an atmosphere in the grandstands that is second to none.”
Gabriel Bortoleto’s comments
“It was an incredible feeling to score my first Formula 1 points last weekend,” said Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto, reflecting on his breakthrough result. “That result is something both myself and the team have been working hard for since the beginning of the season. But this is just the start.”
“Now the focus shifts to Silverstone and to finishing this double-header on a high, just like we started it,” Bortoleto continued. “We need to keep our heads down, keep pushing, and keep improving. We’re also bringing some new components to the car this weekend, and I can’t wait to get familiar with them during the practice sessions.”
“It’s all about small steps — that’s how we grow as a team and stay in the fight.”
Kick Sauber’s recent performances have not only lifted them in the Constructors’ standings but also revitalized belief in their 2025 campaign. With new technical updates, growing driver confidence, and a strong internal atmosphere, the team arrives at Silverstone looking to extend its run of form and stay competitive in the ever-tight midfield battle.
