The usual Thursday media sessions scheduled ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos will take place without Carlos Sainz. The news was officially confirmed a few minutes ago by a Williams spokesperson, who revealed that the Spanish driver is suffering from an illness.
“Unfortunately, Carlos is not feeling well and will not be at the track today, so all mandatory media sessions are canceled. We apologize for the inconvenience,” stated the team representative.
As a result, the 31-year-old driver will remain at the team’s hotel, hoping to recover in time to take part in the remainder of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend. Early reports, however, suggest that his condition is not serious, unlike the situation last year in Saudi Arabia, when the then-Ferrari driver was forced to miss the race due to appendicitis.
On that occasion, Ferrari called up reserve driver Oliver Bearman, who impressed on his Formula 1 debut by finishing in seventh place. Further updates on Carlos Sainz’s condition are expected soon.
