It is not an easy period for Valtteri Bottas as he tries to escape the difficult situation he currently finds himself in. The Cadillac project does not appear to suit him as naturally as it does Sergio Perez, and when something goes wrong, it often seems to happen on Bottas’ side of the garage.
The Finnish driver once again endured a frustrating weekend in Barcelona, which ultimately ended in retirement. Despite the disappointment, Bottas tried to focus on the few positives that emerged from the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.
“It was a difficult weekend, marked by several issues in my side of the garage. Today, we decided to stop the car during the race as a precaution.
“There were still some positive signs. In qualifying, we seemed a little closer to the midfield, and my pit stop was excellent.
“It is useful to have a race-free weekend now, as it will allow us to address these problems back at the factory. It is part of our journey, and we will continue to look forward.”
