Instead, after encountering technical problems, the Grove-based team chose to keep the Anglo-Thai driver on track and effectively use the remainder of the event as a testing opportunity. “It was a difficult weekend, but we learned some important things. Even before the camera failure, we were already struggling,” Alex Albon explained. “In these temperatures, tyre degradation was really hurting us and there is something on the car that we need to fix.

“When we came into the pits to repair the issue, we took the opportunity to try some changes and then went back out on track. From that point, the session became more of a test than a race.

“We are going through an unfortunate period at the moment, but we will work hard to understand what is not working and come back stronger in Austria.”
