Alexander Albon reaches 100 Grands Prix in Formula 1 and celebrates with Valentino Rossi. The Thai driver’s helmet features the now-famous “The Doctor” sticker, which accompanied the career of the Italian motorcycle racing legend. The design is reminiscent of his very first karting helmet when the Williams driver raced with the number 46.
An important milestone in Formula 1 for Alexander Albon. The Williams driver, in his fifth season in the Circus, has already reached 100 Grands Prix. A number that seems like it belongs to a veteran, but as Alex Albon himself confirmed, it’s now reached very quickly. The Thai driver’s career, however, can’t be considered disappointing. After debuting with Toro Rosso and a rapid promotion to Red Bull, he fell victim to the ruthless Milton Keynes grinder: dropped at the end of 2020, he returned to Formula 1 after a year off the grid, becoming the lead driver for the Grove team. He has two podiums to his name, both achieved at the wheel of the Red Bull, at the Mugello circuit and in Bahrain.
“I feel that 100 races, now that we do so many, doesn’t take as long, only four, four and a half years,” said Alexander Albon in a press conference ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin. “We’ve had a good number of races, we’ve made a step forward after the update, but we’re still not completely satisfied with the car’s level.” – he pointed out.
“We’ve had the chance to analyze the data, and at the moment, we’re in a positive phase: I don’t see why we can’t score points here as well.” For his 100th Grand Prix, Alexander Albon will wear a special helmet inspired by his first racing helmet. The tribute to Valentino Rossi, his childhood idol, is clearly visible on the white background of the helmet.
