The world champion team wants to comply with a request from the FIA: the splitter damper will be changed by the Brazilian GP, but in the meantime, Bauer’s technical stewards may install a seal to quash any controversy. The case, barring any surprising developments, is expected to be resolved…
Red Bull will modify the T-Tray of the RB20. The world champion team has assured the FIA that it will change the system that allows the height of the splitter to be adjusted with a simple movement by a mechanic, for the Brazilian GP, which will be held on November 3 at Interlagos.
The Milton Keynes team has come under the FIA’s scrutiny because more than one team reported to the International Federation’s stewards that the RB20 could easily change the ground clearance of the front splitter, raising suspicions that the modification could be made under parc fermé conditions between qualifying and the race.
Obviously, this would be an illegal action that would violate the Technical Regulations and would be severely punished if it were confirmed that there was an attempt to bypass the rules. In reality, there is no evidence to incriminate Red Bull, while the device was available to all teams since the design had been uploaded to the FIA’s website, as it is a part that can be shared.
