Fernando Alonso’s goals
Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso still keeps his hopes alive of once again being listed in the Formula 1 record books, especially behind the wheel of an Aston Martin that could bring him more satisfaction in the coming years. Meanwhile, the former Renault, McLaren, and Ferrari driver often receives awards and recognition for a career that is not yet over at the age of 43, with the latest honor being awarded to him in his home country of Spain.
New award
This is the inaugural edition of the Premio Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE, with the ceremony taking place at the circuit located just outside the Spanish capital, which was also the venue for the first Spanish Grand Prix counting toward the F1 World Championship in 1968 and remained on the calendar (often alternating with Montjuich) until 1981. This award recognizes all drivers, teams, brands, and companies that have helped to enhance the legendary history of Spain’s first permanent circuit.
The reasons
The first award was unanimously given to Fernando Alonso “for his exceptional contribution to the promotion of motorsports in our country, as well as for his close relationship with the Madrid Jarama-RACE Circuit, which has been strengthened through his involvement in various events and activities held at our facilities.”
At the award ceremony were the director of the Jarama-RACE Circuit, Ignacio Fernández, the president of the Royal Automobile Club of Spain (RACE), and the president of the FIA Senate, Carmelo Sanz de Barros.
