Sainz Sr.: “Carlos is underrated. His best is yet to come”. For two-time rally world champion Carlos Sainz, his son will achieve even greater success in F1.

Carlos Sainz Faces the Williams Challenge starting with 2025
After four years with Ferrari, Carlos Sainz is set to embark on a new challenge. Objectively, it’s a step back, as Williams occupies the back positions on the grid. However, Red Bull and Mercedes chose to prioritize their young talents over the Spaniard, forcing Smooth Operator to settle for a fallback solution, while Aston Martin had already renewed Fernando Alonso’s contract well in advance.

2025 will be a tough year for the former Ferrari driver, one where he’ll need to “get his hands dirty.” However, the #55 is accustomed to helping teams grow, always striving for honest communication with teammates and providing clear guidance to engineers. According to Carlos Sainz Sr.—a two-time rally champion—his son is an underrated driver who still has the potential to achieve even greater success in the future.

Carlos Sainz Sr.’s comments
“Partly because of his personality and because he came after Fernando (Alonso), I think he’s been underrated and hasn’t been given the recognition he deserves,” Sainz Sr. told *El Jefelito*.

“I believe Carlos’s best version is still to come. That’s my feeling. He’s a driver who keeps improving and seems to deliver his best version every year,” he added. “There are drivers who start off very quickly, give it their all, and then decline, while Carlos keeps getting better each year. He’s already overcome the shock of what happened with Ferrari and is focused on what’s yet to come.”
