The excitement is still fresh following an exhilarating Brazilian Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen further solidified his pursuit of a fourth consecutive world championship title. Starting from a challenging 17th position on the grid, the Dutch driver showcased his exceptional skill by claiming victory in São Paulo with a commanding lead of nearly 20 seconds. This triumph puts him in a strong position to potentially secure the Drivers’ Championship in Las Vegas later this month.
The weekend also proved fruitful for Alpine, as Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly both achieved podium finishes at the 4.309-kilometre Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Brazil, significantly boosting the team’s points tally. Conversely, Lando Norris saw his title aspirations take a hit, as he dropped from pole position to finish sixth. It was a disappointing day for Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez, who could only manage to cross the line in 10th and 11th places, respectively.
In the aftermath of Max Verstappen’s success in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner had a sharp retort for former world champion Damon Hill. The 1996 Formula 1 world champion had previously voiced strong criticisms regarding Max Verstappen’s aggressive tactics during the race in Mexico last month, which resulted in him receiving two 10-second time penalties.
“It is possible to race fairly and that is something I’m not sure that Max is capable of,” Damon Hill stated ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix race in Sao Paulo.
Following a remarkable display of skill by the three-time Formula 1 world champion, Damon Hill conceded that the Dutch driver had indeed “shown his brilliance” at the Interlagos circuit. Seizing the moment, Christian Horner took the opportunity to jab at the former champion, stating: “I think we’re going to have to get that on record that Damon said something nice!” – the Red Bull team boss said at the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
