The Star of the Evening
For the fourth consecutive time, Max Verstappen took the stage at the FIA’s End-of-Year Awards Ceremony to receive the trophy reserved for the Formula 1 World Champion. This time, the event was held in Kigali, Rwanda.
Never satisfied with victories, but cautious…
On a night likened to the ‘Oscars’ of international motorsport, the Dutchman was the most anticipated driver, especially following a season marked by triumphs and moments of difficulty that enabled a genuine title fight between him and Lando Norris. In the end, it was the 27-year-old Red Bull driver who prevailed. Upon receiving the prestigious award, he reflected on the season just concluded, emphasizing his hunger for victories and the new challenges that could arise in the future, particularly from 2026.
“Sometimes you get lucky in life,” he remarked. “You’re in the right place at the right time, and of course, as a driver, you have to make the most of it. Thankfully, I’ve managed to do that, and it’s amazing. Four titles are incredible. I certainly hope not to stop here and to achieve the same level of success over a longer period. However, this year, the competition was very intense. That said, many things will change in 2026, and perhaps many other teams will also be competitive. For now, I think the most important thing is to enjoy the moment and be proud of what we’ve achieved as a team. We’ll try again next year.”
