McLaren ended the 2024 Formula 1 season by clinching the Constructors’ Championship after a 26-year drought. Oscar Piastri, a driver who played a pivotal role in securing the title, can also celebrate a personal record: here’s what it is.
Oscar Piastri’s consistency
The Australian driver managed to complete 100% of the laps in the season. This means no retirements in Grands Prix or Sprint races and never being lapped, although he came very close to it in Abu Dhabi due to a challenging race.
This achievement places him among an elite group of legends, including Michael Schumacher, who had a flawless season in this regard in 2002, Lewis Hamilton (2019), and Max Verstappen (2023).
Beyond highlighting Oscar Piastri’s consistency, this statistic also underscores the extreme reliability of modern F1 cars.
In short, McLaren’s year was perfect in the Constructors’ standings, if not as much in the Drivers’. However, Oscar can be pleased with his performance for now, especially considering his relatively limited F1 experience compared to his rivals.
