‘Double duty’ for Max on December 13
Max Verstappen ended the 2024 F1 season amidst controversy with the Stewards over the ten-second penalty he received for his collision with Oscar Piastri at the start. The four-time world champion has wrapped up his on-track commitments for a season he described as “too long,” but winning the world title naturally requires his presence at the end-of-year Gala, which the FIA is hosting in Rwanda this year.
The Federation has granted the Dutchman the opportunity to combine his trip to Africa with the fulfillment of community service duties resulting from his use of profanity during the Thursday media session at the Singapore Grand Prix.
On Friday, December 13, before the award ceremony, Max Verstappen will spend time with junior participants of the Motorsport Rwanda program, who will showcase a cross car built entirely locally based on Federation guidelines. Before the holidays, Max Verstappen will also make a stop in Madrid for an event related to esports, a “discipline” to which the F1 driver dedicates considerable time.
