Not just Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas could drive for two other teams in 2025. Valtteri Bottas might have other options on the horizon for 2025. .

Valtteri Bottas, 2024 F1

What’s next? This has been the recurring question surrounding Valtteri Bottas since his departure from Sauber, up until the announcement of his reserve driver role at Mercedes for 2025. The Finnish driver has decided to return to the team that solidified his position in Formula 1, though there might still be more developments for the upcoming season.

Two other options for Valtteri Bottas
According to reports from GPblog, Valtteri Bottas could find himself driving not only for Mercedes in 2025 but also for other teams. Under the agreements between the Silver Arrows and their customer teams, reserve drivers can be “loaned” if needed.

Since Mercedes supplies engines to Williams and McLaren, and these two teams currently lack official reserve drivers, Valtteri Bottas might end up shuttling between three teams in 2025.

For Valtteri Bottas, this could also be an opportunity for the future, as the former Sauber driver has never hidden his desire to return as a full-time driver in 2026.

And the shadow over Kimi Antonelli…
Adding to this scenario is the situation involving Kimi Antonelli. Some speculate that Toto Wolff’s decision to bring Bottas onboard stems from a desire to have an alternative in case the young Italian talent fails to deliver results in the medium to long term.
