Miami, McLaren drivers’ challenge
For the first time in his career, Oscar Piastri arrives at a race weekend as the championship leader. The Australian reached the top of the standings after the Saudi Arabian GP, securing his third win in five races, and now he must bear the pressure of no longer being the hunter but the hunted.
The first to chase him will be his teammate Lando Norris, who was once again imperfect during the Jeddah weekend and now risks being overtaken in the internal team hierarchy.
Oscar Piastri’s words
Ahead of the Miami GP, #81 is aiming for another strong weekend: “I’m excited to get back to work this weekend in Miami, and I’ll aim for another strong and complete weekend before heading into the European season. I like the city, the atmosphere, the people, and the track. It’s also a Sprint weekend, so there will be many opportunities to maintain the current momentum and energy.”
Lando Norris’s words
“It was good to recharge after a tough triple-header, but I’m excited to get back in the car, especially in Miami,” added Norris. “It’s where I won my first F1 race, and this track is special to me. Also, the fans here create such a great atmosphere, and I’m excited to see all the papaya fans in the stands. Last week I returned to the McLaren Technology Centre with the team and the simulator to prepare for Miami. It should be another great weekend, I’m ready.” – the British driver concluded ahead of the Miami Grand Prix weekend.
