The Dutchman carried the team on his shoulders
Helmut Marko and Christian Horner have widely acknowledged that the 14th world title in Red Bull’s history – 8 driver titles and 6 constructors’ titles – is almost entirely due to Max Verstappen, who has been able to compensate with his talent for the many occasions when the RB20 was not the car to beat on the track.
After the first part of the season, marked by “turbulence” (in Marko’s words) linked to the internal investigation involving Horner, controversies that fueled market speculations about Max Verstappen’s potential move to Mercedes, the Dutchman has repeatedly stated recently that he feels calm about honoring his contract with Red Bull, which is valid until 2028.
The victory in Qatar, in particular, showcased a Red Bull capable of being competitive both in qualifying and in the race. Between Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s Grand Prix, Max Verstappen organized a party for the entire team. According to De Telegraaf, the party was held at the St Regis hotel in Doha, with all team members, including mechanics and catering staff, attending, totaling about 80 people, all of whom were impressed by the thank-you speech given by the newly crowned four-time world champion.
