The end of Lewis Hamilton’s career with Mercedes is approaching. After 11 years at Brackley, the English champion is ready for a new chapter in his life with Ferrari. On the eve of the final race in Abu Dhabi, Toto Wolff took the opportunity to thank Hamilton for the years and successes achieved with Mercedes through an emotional message.
After 11 years, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton will go their separate ways. In 2025, the English champion will move to Maranello, while the Brackley team will embrace a future-focused line-up. George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli will take on the 2025 championship with the W16, while Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will represent Ferrari with the 677.
“After 12 incredible years, this weekend we prepare to write the final chapter of our racing story with Lewis. It has been an incredible journey,” said Wolff in a statement. “When we started working together in 2013, we couldn’t have imagined what would happen. Six drivers’ world championships. Eight constructors’ titles. 84 wins. 78 pole positions. 153 podiums. The most successful driver-team partnership in F1 history. Many highs we enjoyed. Some crushing lows we overcame together.”
“But our relationship has meant so much more than just numbers and statistics. It’s a legacy that transcends our sport, leaving a lasting impact beyond the track. A legacy committed to increasing diversity in our sport. To fighting for inclusion. Lewis has been the catalyst for all of this, and we have been honored and proud to work alongside him.”
The story between Hamilton and Mercedes will be celebrated in Abu Dhabi and through a tour including Kuala Lumpur, Stuttgart, Brixworth, and Brackley, recognizing the collective contributions. Although this chapter is ending, the bond between Lewis and Mercedes will remain eternal, cementing his place in the three-pointed star family.
“But let’s close this chapter the right way. Thank you, Lewis: for one last time, let’s do this. Thank you, Lewis!” Toto Wolff concluded.
