Max Verstappen: “I can’t wait to become a dad. Will he be a driver? No”. Max Verstappen has often expressed his desire to start a family and how important it is to him.

Max Verstappen, Kelly Piquet, 2024

Ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina circuit, while caught up in a controversy with George Russell, Max Verstappen shared unexpected news: his partner, Kelly Piquet, is pregnant. The world champion will soon become a father and is already beaming with joy whenever the baby is mentioned. Max Verstappen has often expressed his desire to start a family and how important it is to him. “I’m very excited. Luckily, I’ve had some practice with Penelope [Kvyat, Kelly’s firstborn], as I’ve seen her grow over the past four years. This time, though, I’ll be on my own, and it will be a new challenge,” he revealed on the *Talking Bull* podcast.

The big question everyone is asking is whether the child will follow in the family’s footsteps, given their famous surnames. However, Max Verstappen is not keen on exposing them to the risks of motorsport. “I need to talk to Christian [Horner] because I don’t want him or her to get into racing. Maybe they can have a different role in the team—designing the cars or something like that,” the Dutchman concluded.
