Loopholes and gray areas: how Aston Martin could win the F1 title “within three years” thanks to Adrian Newey. Juan Pablo Montoya believes Aston Martin, with Adrian Newey on board, could win a Formula 1 championship within three years.

Fernando Alonso, Adrian Newey 2024

The 2026 technical revolution in Formula 1 presents the perfect opportunity: with the grid more leveled than ever, Aston Martin is preparing to potentially win a world championship “within three years,” thanks to the legendary Adrian Newey. Talent remains the ultimate differentiator in F1, and Newey, in his first season at Silverstone, could be the key to success for the team. According to Juan Pablo Montoya, the Colombian former F1 driver, Aston Martin, supported by Fernando Alonso’s driving, has the potential to make a major breakthrough. For Alonso, who is approaching retirement, this could represent one final, significant chance to cap off his brilliant career with a title.

The upcoming technical revolution in the pinnacle of motorsport is generating intriguing scenarios. Concerns are inevitable, ranging from questions about on-track spectacle, the performance and safety of the new cars, to the real possibility that one team could gain an insurmountable advantage over its rivals. Yet, alongside these worrying possibilities, anticipation grows among fans and insiders alike to see how the grid will shape up when the season begins.

Many teams aspire to challenge the current top-tier dominance held by McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes. These teams have monopolized the Formula 1 grid over the past decade, with Aston Martin’s recent rise in competitiveness adding a fresh dynamic. From Audi to Alpine, Cadillac to Aston Martin, the question remains: who will manage to disrupt the stronghold of the “Fantastic Four” and emerge as a serious title contender?

Montoya bets on Newey’s Aston Martin

According to Juan Pablo Montoya, it is precisely Lawrence Stroll’s Aston Martin team that is the strongest contender among the chasing pack. Juan Pablo Montoya said: “You cannot rule Fernando Alonso out of the title fight already next season. If Adrian Newey builds a winning car for Aston Martin as early as next year, it could happen in 2027. Aston Martin will have a world champion within the next three years, I guarantee it.”

He also emphasized the importance of the power unit supplier: “You have to consider Honda as well, which provides the power units: every time they enter Formula 1, they win. I’m not one hundred percent sure Aston Martin will be competitive next year, but if Newey finds that loophole in the regulations, they will win everything,” concluded the Colombian ex-F1 driver.
