Nearly two months after his tough farewell to Formula 1, Logan Sargeant is ready to make a fresh start in the United States. The Fort Lauderdale driver will be taking part in a private test with Meyer Shank Racing, a team competing in IndyCar with a Honda-powered car, on November 19 at the Thermal Club.
Although the test won’t guarantee him a seat for next season, Logan Sargeant will have the chance to get back behind the wheel after his forced break, hoping to make a strong impression and attract the interest of other teams.
Logan Sargeant Back on Track
“I’ve known him and his family for a long time,” said Michael Shank, co-owner of the team, a few weeks ago.
“Logan’s manager is also George Russell’s manager. He’s always kept in touch to stay aware and keep an eye on things.”
“We tested Nyck de Vries a few years ago for the same reason. I know what Nyck is capable of now. Even though we didn’t end up putting anything together, we tried a couple of times, and it’s just the fundamental awareness that there’s another potential top talent out there.”
“In this case, I don’t have anything for him (Logan Sargeant) for 2025, but I always keep in mind that if we ever find ourselves in a tight spot and want to try someone out, we have someone we can immediately turn to. I think it’s a rare opportunity to test someone I think has potential. You never know.”
Speaking about the upcoming test, Michael Shank concluded: “In just one test, we’ll get a snapshot of 60-70% of his abilities. Hopefully, it’ll be dry, but we’ll see many things right away. Technically, we should also take him on an oval to see how he handles it. Maybe we’ll do that at some point. But we’ll learn a lot. We’ll know pretty quickly if this guy can do it or not.”
