The title battle is no longer a two-horse race, and this significantly impacts Norris’s championship hopes. Currently 22 points behind the top, he recognizes that Mercedes and Red Bull, following their recent updates, may have a slight edge over McLaren. However, the 25-year-old Bristol native is keen to emphasize a crucial point.
Norris urges McLaren to step up
The MCL39 remains a strong car, having delivered the team its second consecutive Constructors’ Championship and the tenth in its history. Yet, competitors have recently made notable progress. According to Lando Norris, the team must quickly get back on track—not just for the remainder of this season but also for the future. After the Marina Bay race, he explained to Marca.com, “The car is the best of the season. The performance balance shifts from track to track depending on the circuit and weather conditions, and sometimes others simply do a better job than us. There are areas we need to improve, and this will also be important for next year.”
Red Bull remains a cunning rival
Lando Norris openly acknowledges the progress of rival teams but is not surprised by Red Bull. He sees them as a shrewd opponent capable of feigning weakness in order to strike unexpectedly in qualifying and races. He emphasizes that the Austrian squad must be closely monitored and urges caution. “They are like this. They complain constantly—this is Red Bull,” he concluded, highlighting the team’s strategic unpredictability.
