Hill backs Norris but warns on Verstappen
As the F1 season enters its final phase next week, the championship is set to be decided over three crucial races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, with 83 decisive points up for grabs. Currently, Lando Norris leads the standings with a 24-point advantage over teammate Oscar Piastri, who has struggled to find consistency in recent weeks. Adding to the challenge is the looming presence of Max Verstappen, capable of disrupting the Woking duo and snatching valuable positions.
Three intense weeks ahead
These next races will be the climax of a season full of ups and downs, often played out more in the drivers’ minds than on track. “They have discovered that fighting for a World Championship isn’t just about driving. It becomes a psychological game, and the goal is to find out who has the right qualities and who doesn’t,” Damon Hill said in a recent interview with the Mirror.
Norris is the favorite, but Max remains a threat
For the former British driver, among the three title contenders, Lando Norris is the favorite to lift the trophy. “He has the characteristics of a champion, and he has already shown that this year. There was a period when he struggled, but now he’s back stronger, and things are shaping up well. Oscar was becoming stronger, but in recent weeks he has faltered a bit. Young drivers are very good at analyzing what’s holding them back and correcting it, which is another fundamental part of motorsport. And then there’s Max—no one can rule him out of the fight because we know what he has done in the past. He doesn’t give up as long as there’s a chance, and that will be crucial in the coming weeks,” Hill added.
