Lando Norris hits out at Max Verstappen: “I’m still in the fight for the championship”. Lando Norris is focusing on the final triple-header of the season.

Lando Norris, 2024 F1

During the last Grand Prix at the Interlagos circuit, McLaren once again lost points to Max Verstappen. Despite this, Lando Norris is fired up for the last triple-header that will conclude the F1 season: the English driver still believes in the championship.

Lando Norris’ 2024 season has been both the best and the toughest for the English driver. He managed to secure his long-awaited first victory at the Miami GP, managing to beat what seemed like an unbeatable Max Verstappen. The McLaren number 4 didn’t stop there: it also triumphed in Zandvoort and Singapore.

However, alongside this, there were a series of mistakes made by the team. Throughout the summer, there were many occasions when victory was within reach but was not secured. Notable examples include Barcelona, Canada, and Silverstone.

Lando Norris has not been perfect either. The Englishman has shown that he is not yet ready to handle the pressure that comes with fighting for a World Championship. Many times, he made starting errors that compromised his entire race weekend.

All of this, combined with the constant focus from the media on his weaknesses, led Lando Norris to confusion. We cannot forget what happened in Austin during his battle with Max Verstappen, nor the mistakes made in Interlagos that wasted another pole position.

With three races to go, Lando Norris finds himself 62 points behind the leader; McLaren continues to keep Ferrari behind. The English driver is not giving up and from Las Vegas, he aims to start the comeback of the century, which will go down in F1 history.

“It was nice to return to the factory after the Brazil leg. I’ve prepared a lot with my engineers for the last three races of the championship. Everyone is very motivated and ready to give their best because we are still in the fight for both championships.”

McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella was also very determined: “The Las Vegas race is the first of the last three weekends of the season. As expected, we are all very close in terms of performance. We have a fast car and we are a good team that has worked hard in every race. The season has been very long, but we have to give our best to finish the job. We remain focused because it’s not over yet. Every point counts and the team is very motivated to give the drivers the best car.”
