F1 Norris vs Verstappen: Red Bull’s style of talking nonsense sparks feud
The rivalry between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen is heating up not just on the track but also in the media. The Dutchman recently claimed in an F1.com interview that, had he been in a McLaren, he would have wrapped up the World Championship much earlier. Such statements did not sit well with the British driver, who has often been critical of the MCL39’s performance. “Red Bull’s style is being aggressive and talking nonsense,” Norris said.
The final two races of the season, in Lusail and Abu Dhabi, will be decisive in concluding this long and intense championship. Three drivers remain in contention for the title: Lando Norris, currently leading and, on paper, the clear favorite; Oscar Piastri; and Max Verstappen. Over the months, the championship has seen several shifts: from the initial McLaren duel between Norris and Piastri, to periods dominated by the Australian, and finally the Dutchman’s relentless comeback.
While the Constructors’ Championship has long been secured by McLaren, the drivers’ title remains open. Max Verstappen has suggested that, had he been in a “dominant car like the McLaren,” this title fight would not have occurred.
Lando Norris fires back: “Sometimes he just talks nonsense”
Lando Norris did not hesitate to respond. The Englishman has openly acknowledged the difficulties he has faced with the MCL39, a car that has challenged him throughout the season. “This is how Red Bull operates: aggressive by nature, and often talking nonsense. You can decide whether you want to listen to them or not; we just keep our heads down and work,” he said.
“Max can say whatever he wants, honestly. In a way, he has earned it – he’s won four World Championships, and I have a lot of respect for him. That gives him credibility with anyone. He has achieved an incredible amount, more than most could ever dream of. Usually, he knows what he’s talking about, but there are also many things on which he isn’t entirely clear,” Norris concluded, reinforcing his own perspective while defending his position in the championship fight.
As the season reaches its climax, this off-track exchange adds another layer of tension to the on-track battles at Lusail and Abu Dhabi, where every point will matter in the fight for the 2025 World Championship.
With Lando Norris holding the points lead heading into the penultimate round and Verstappen needing a minor miracle, the war of words has only added extra spice to an already electric finale.
