McLaren heads to Qatar
On paper, the Lusail track favors McLaren. However, in the 2024 World Championship, the paper has often been torn up by on-track results. This is why Woking remains vigilant as they approach the Qatar weekend, which will award crucial points in the Constructors’ Championship battle against Ferrari, both in the Sprint and the main race.
The papaya team, currently +24 ahead of the Prancing Horse, aims to bounce back from a disappointing Las Vegas weekend, where, aside from the challenging nature of the track for the MCL38, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were largely anonymous. To make one final decisive push, McLaren needs a return to top form from the Briton and especially from the Australian, who has been almost invisible over the past month.
Lando Norris’s comments
“I can’t wait to return to Qatar. Last year was a great race for us, and we’re aiming to do even better this year. There’s also the final Sprint of the year, so we’ll try to score as many points as possible,” commented Lando Norris. “We are fully focused on what we need to achieve in the last two rounds. The Qatar track and conditions should suit us better than last weekend, so let’s see what we can do.”
Oscar Piastri’s comments
“Last year, I won the Sprint here, so I’m excited to see what we can do this time,” added Oscar Piastri. “We only have two weekends left, and we know what we need to do. This weekend should be stronger for us compared to Las Vegas. Let’s keep our heads down and give it our all in the Constructors’ Championship battle.”
