The announcement confirms that the new Red Bull Ford power unit will be developed at Red Bull Powertrains’ headquarters in Milton Keynes. It is considered one of the most ambitious projects in the team’s history, aimed at addressing the FIA’s upcoming 2026 regulatory changes. Among these changes are the introduction of fully sustainable fuels and an increased electrical contribution to the hybrid system.
Joint launch for Red Bull and Racing Bulls: official date confirmed
The collaboration between Red Bull and Ford combines the technical expertise and innovative capacity of two entities that have written significant chapters in motorsport history. The joint launch of Red Bull and Racing Bulls is therefore scheduled for January 15, 2026, at Ford’s headquarters.
Red Bull Racing Team Principal Laurent Mekies expressed his excitement about the new partnership. He stated, “The collaboration with Ford propels us toward a new generation of hybrid technology. It is an exciting moment for Formula 1 and for our team. We will develop an engine with the expertise and support of an iconic brand like Ford.”
The project will also involve Red Bull Powertrains, which will handle the hybrid and mechanical aspects of the power unit, working closely with engineers from Ford Performance in the United States. For the American company, this marks a prestigious return to Formula 1 after more than two decades of direct absence from the sport. Ford boasts over 150 wins in the championship and six constructors’ world titles, a legacy now set to return to the spotlight through the Red Bull Ford Powertrains project.
The new power unit will be developed with a focus on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. This approach aligns with the FIA’s new directives and the objective of transforming Formula 1 into a technological laboratory for the mobility of the future.
The joint launch of the 2026 season will be a global event, featuring the official unveiling of the car, the new engine, and the team lineup. Red Bull and Ford promise a long-term strategic collaboration that extends beyond racing, including technological development, connectivity, and sustainability-related projects.
