Is Red Bull’s 2026 engine already a threat? Ford responds to speculation. Red Bull and Ford prepare for F1’s 2026 engine revolution.

Red Bull RB21, 2025 F1

In 2026, teams will face a major regulatory change, and in the same year, Red Bull will bring to the track an engine born from its new collaboration with Ford.

After six years of partnership, Red Bull is preparing to definitively part ways with Honda: the Austrian team is developing its 2026 engine together with Ford. What are they expecting for next season? Is it already possible to offer any previews? Here are the latest statements.

The head of Ford Motorsport initially focused on engine development and the team’s objectives. After clarifying these points, he shared his outlook for next season and the comparison with rivals.

There are many rumours circulating about what teams expect from the coming season. Rushbrook pointed out that, also due to the regulatory change, it’s impossible to make definitive judgments about their work without knowing where the competition stands. “Unless you’re testing on the same dyno under the same conditions, you simply don’t know.”

“Now, we might have said, ‘This is what’s possible and this is how we get there,’ so that’s the path we’re on. But we don’t know if Mercedes or Ferrari believe something different is possible. It might turn out to be better or worse than ours, so right now everyone can say they’re on the right track, but they might be on the right track toward a different outcome.”
