Horner-Red Bull, is it goodbye? The situation
The first outlet to report the news was Autosprint, claiming that the Briton’s position is on the line due to poor results. His continuation may depend on the effectiveness of the upgrade package that the Milton Keynes-based team will bring to the track next weekend.
That’s not all: the Italian sports magazine had pointed to Oliver Oakes as a potential replacement. When he resigned from his role as team principal at Alpine, the move began to seem plausible.
However, foreign sources have claimed that Oliver Oakes’s departure from the French team was for personal reasons, due to his brother’s arrest.
Despite that information, the Austrian outlet Österreich still firmly believes that Christian Horner could be removed from the team. In an unsigned article, it wrote: “Red Bull earthquake! Horner on the brink of being fired.”
Finally, another profile suggested as a potential replacement is Franz Tost, who led Toro Rosso (later AlphaTauri) for many years—maintaining a strong relationship with the Red Bull family—and who could at least serve as an interim figure until the end of the season.
Frankly, it’s difficult to imagine Red Bull dismissing Christian Horner mid-season after 20 years of work and success, but one thing is certain: in Formula 1, you can never be sure. We’ll just have to wait for further confirmation.
