There were some wild moments in the F1 Las Vegas GP, and Yuki Tsunoda shared his race experience without mincing words. The Japanese driver finished in ninth place, earning points after a highly competitive race. The updates brought by Racing Bulls are working well and show promise, but the highlight of the race was when Yuki Tsunoda (#22) hit the pit lane exit sign.
The Las Vegas GP once again delivered excitement. Expectations were met, with overtakes and plenty of action on the track. While George Russell flew ahead to take an “easy” victory, behind him, there was a battle for every position. Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz finished on the podium – not without some controversy – while the points were rounded off by Nico Hulkenberg, Yuki Tsunoda, and Sergio Perez.
One of the most interesting dynamics in this season’s finale will be the fight for the second Red Bull seat: the Mexican driver is facing increasing criticism, even from within the team (Helmut Marko assures that a decision will be made after Abu Dhabi), and both Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson are looking to make the most of the opportunity to showcase themselves.
Yuki Tsunoda: A Las Vegas Without Filters
The Japanese driver fought fearlessly throughout the race, even in the pit lane: after his tire change, he found himself side by side with Pierre Gasly’s Alpine as they exited the pit lane. Neither of them backed off, so Racing Bulls’ Tsunoda was forced to hit the sign marking the end of the slower lane, sending his car flying.
“I shit myself, I apologize!” he confessed humorously to the Formula 1 microphones. “You hit that sign and the car lifts off the ground… I almost hit the wall!”
He also commented on his team’s special livery: “I think it brought us good luck. At first, I thought it looked a bit like Buzz Lightyear, you know, from Toy Story. But I think I became a bit like Buzz in this race, maximizing my laps. I’m really happy with how the race went, even though it annoys me to have been passed by a Haas.” – he concluded at the end of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
