Despite Helmut Marko’s warnings following the race in Mexico, Sergio Perez remains confident that he has a guaranteed seat at Red Bull for 2025 as well. The future of Sergio Perez at Red Bull is starting to resemble a true cliffhanger.
After rumors of his potential immediate dismissal during the summer were firmly denied by Christian Horner, the Mexican continues to be at the center of strong speculation regarding 2025, certainly not helped by a results crisis that seems never-ending.
The only certainty at the moment, as confirmed by Helmut Marko, is Sergio Perez’s continuation with the team until Abu Dhabi, but there is no certainty about the future beyond that.
Christian Horner himself, commenting on yet another disastrous result in Mexico, seemed more inclined towards parting ways with the Mexican at the end of the season: “Formula 1 is a performance-based business. There comes a time when difficult decisions must be made.”
However, despite the recent warnings from the Milton Keynes team management, Checo continues to be sure he will have a seat at Red Bull for the next season.
“These are just rumors,” he stated ahead of the Interlagos weekend. “I believe there needs to be more professionalism from the media in not spreading such gossip. You will see me in Las Vegas, you will see me next year. I’m not the one worrying.”
Finally, in response to Helmut Marko’s comments after the race in Mexico about the possibility of not being on the grid next year, Sergio Perez was emphatic in his reply: “Well, I know I will be. That’s all I can say.”
At this point, one might wonder: Does Checo really know something we don’t?
