You’ve probably wondered how drivers prepare to endure the physical demands of modern F1 cars. Kimi Antonelli has provided the answer by sharing a video on social media, unveiling the training regimen he is following in the lead-up to his first season as an F1 driver.
The young Italian talent will make his debut in a few weeks as Lewis Hamilton’s replacement at Mercedes. Toto Wolff chose to bet on him following the seven-time champion’s departure from the Silver Arrows, a decision that sparked considerable debate.
Some believe Antonelli is not yet ready for a top team like Brackley and would have been better off gaining experience at a smaller team like Williams.
Kimi Antonelli’s training program
While it remains to be seen whether Toto Wolff’s choice was the right one, Kimi Antonelli has shared a video revealing his training schedule ahead of his first F1 season.
The day starts at 8:30 AM with swimming. After breakfast, it’s off to the gym at 11:30 AM, focusing particularly on neck training—one of the most crucial aspects for Formula 1 drivers.
Lunch is at 1:30 PM to recharge before the final session of the day: a couple of hours of cycling. At 5:50 PM, it’s back to base, followed by dinner and some leisure time to wrap up the day.
It’s an intense but essential program to ensure he’s fully prepared for Bahrain testing, which precedes the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
