Revolving doors at Red Bull
At the end of March, we picked up some whispers in the paddock suggesting that—after a less-than-stellar start to the 2025 Formula 1 season—the positions of team principal Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko might not be as secure at Red Bull as they once were. Just yesterday, Autosprint floated the possibility that Oliver Oakes could replace Christian Horner if the Imola updates fail to turn Max Verstappen’s season around.
No more than two weeks ago, it was Helmut Marko himself who floated the idea of Sebastian Vettel as his potential successor and point of reference for the team, and that alone was enough to reignite rumors about the Austrian advisor’s departure. Marko recently turned 82.

“The idea of Sebastian Vettel was mine, but we are far from making it happen or even being ready to talk about it,” Helmut Marko told Austrian outlet Oe24, firmly adding with a hint of mystery: “I don’t know who wants to send me into retirement at the end of the year, but I certainly have no intention of doing so.
