Oliver Bearman continues to impress in Formula 1, securing his fourth consecutive points finish with a strong sixth place at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The British Haas driver had already made headlines with three consecutive points finishes, including a fourth place in Mexico, and confirmed his excellent form at Interlagos.
Four races in the points
Bearman looked in top form throughout the weekend in Brazil, engaging in thrilling on-track battles first with Pierre Gasly and later with Liam Lawson, both of whom also finished in the top ten. The former Ferrari Driver Academy member demonstrated consistent pace and racecraft, ensuring he remained a contender throughout the race.
Overtakes, strategy, and a touch of luck
Oliver Bearman’s rise up the field was aided by incidents such as Charles Leclerc’s retirement following the collision between Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli after the Safety Car period. However, this did not overshadow Bearman’s performance. The British driver commented, “I’m very happy. Honestly, I think we had a perfect race. It was the best possible result we could have achieved, even if we were a bit lucky with the retirements. We had good pace, executed a solid strategy, and made a few overtakes, which adds a bit of risk, so it’s not always straightforward. Mexico was somewhat of a surprise, but maintaining this momentum with sixth place feels great, and now we have a strong opportunity for the final three races.”
A difficult day for Ocon
In contrast, Oliver Bearman’s teammate Esteban Ocon faced a much more challenging race. Starting from the pit lane due to a power unit replacement, the French driver’s chances were further compromised by a puncture that took him out of contention for points. Esteban Ocon remarked, “I would have been much higher up today if I hadn’t suffered a puncture in the first laps, unfortunately it happened just as the Virtual Safety Car was ending and the race was restarting. I was there at the end, fighting for a point with a group of drivers, and things seemed okay, but I missed a few laps. We showed progress and had good pace, but luck wasn’t on our side today.”
