F1 Brazil GP: Pierre Gasly back in top 10, but Alpine still hungry for results. Pierre Gasly returns Alpine to the points in Brazil.

Pierre Gasly returned Alpine to the points at Interlagos, but the result was limited to a 10th-place finish. The French driver had also finished in the top eight in the Sprint race, a feat previously achieved only in Miami, marking his fifth top-ten finish of the season and bringing Alpine a total of 22 points across 21 of the 24 races so far.

Partial satisfaction

So far, Pierre Gasly is the only Alpine driver to reach this milestone. Reflecting on the Brazilian GP, the former Red Bull driver acknowledged a performance that was positive but only partially satisfying: “Although I’m happy to have scored another point, I’m a bit disappointed not to have earned more because the car had more pace than we were able to show,” he explained. “I believe a better starting position could have benefited us at the end. Nonetheless, no complaints — we scored a point, which is valuable considering our performance in recent races, and we’ll review the data to see what we could have done differently and how to improve next time. I battled with Isack Hadjar for much of the race. I overtook him at Turn 1, and he regained the position twice at Turn 4. These were close battles that could have gone either way. Now we’ll take a short break, have a day of preparation at Enstone, and get ready for the final triple-header to close out the season.” – the French driver pointed out at the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.

The first GP after signing a new contract

Meanwhile, Franco Colapinto remained outside the points. The Argentine, who signed with Alpine for next season over the weekend, retired early in the Sprint race due to a mistake and finished only 15th on Sunday. He explained: “It was going to be a tough race from the start, and it turned into a long afternoon managing tires and driving in dirty air. The morning rain disappeared, and everyone ran a similar race, with most drivers doing two stops. In the end, we finished almost where we started and didn’t make much progress. After the Sprint and a complete rebuild of the car, we seemed a bit off and never regained the same feeling or pace. We weren’t as stable, with more sliding, which meant we had to manage tire degradation more carefully during the race. We have a lot to review and will aim to return stronger in Las Vegas and finish the year on a positive note. Overall, we hoped for more this weekend. The fans were amazing, as always, and I could really feel their energy. Congratulations to the team and to Pierre for scoring another point, which is another important gain for the team.”
