It’s no secret that relations within Red Bull aren’t at their best, but now Horner’s time with the team may be nearing its end.
In the paddock, it’s not just the driver market that’s generating discussion. Since last year, when the Horner case exploded, the Red Bull team principal has remained at the center of speculation. In recent days, there were rumors about a possible move to Ferrari to replace Fred Vasseur, which Horner denied. Now, new reports are circulating, suggesting that a split between the Briton and the team is increasingly likely.
The latest rumors come from Germany and the Netherlands. According to two separate F1 publications, Red Bull is said to have taken a firm stance against the team principal, and pressure from Thailand is reportedly mounting to push him toward resignation.
“The atmosphere at Red Bull is at an all-time low, largely because of Christian Horner. And the company has reduced his powers, as he no longer has the authority to make major decisions. He must now obtain approval from headquarters.” This warning came from the German outlet F1-Insider.
Soon after, it was the Dutch outlet GpBlog that weighed in. According to them: “Christian Horner appears to be preparing for a (forced) departure from his role as Red Bull team principal. For Chalerm Yoovidhya, it’s too much. The Thai co-owner supported him unconditionally for a long time, but now his patience has run out. Yoovidhya has demanded results from Christian Horner—otherwise, his time with the team will soon come to an end.”
Finally, the Dutch site explained one of the concrete limitations imposed on Christian Horner. “He is no longer allowed to sign driver contracts: only Helmut Marko and Oliver Mintzlaff have that authority. This power was taken from him after the fiasco with Sergio Perez, which cost the company 18 million.”
