Bortoleto beyond results: the warmth of fans in Brazil

A promising first F1 season

Gabriel Bortoleto’s first season in Formula 1 has come to an end. The Brazilian driver expressed satisfaction with his results given the car at his disposal and is eagerly looking forward to starting the Audi project next season.

The support of home fans

Beyond on-track progress, much has changed off the track as well. Gabriel Bortoleto received tremendous support from fans, both Brazilian and international. “It’s great to be recognized by people in the paddock, by team members, and by the fans, because at the end of the day I know the work that goes into it,” he said in an interview with Formula1.com.

“Sometimes you are limited by the car you drive, and other times, even if you do an excellent job, it doesn’t really show. The important thing is that the team knows what I am doing, all the effort I put in, and the hard work I am doing.”

Home Grand Prix highs and lows

His home Grand Prix in Brazil proved to be both the most extraordinary and the most challenging race of his rookie season. Gabriel was warmly welcomed by countless fans and was determined to achieve a strong result at all costs.

Unfortunately, the wet track played a cruel trick on him. Towards the end of the Sprint race, while attempting an overtaking maneuver, he collided with the wall, experiencing the scariest crash of his career. On Sunday, due to a collision with Lance Stroll, he had to retire without completing a single lap.

“I love the affection of the fans. They are incredibly warm. The Brazilian Grand Prix wasn’t easy for me, but at the same time it was probably the most amazing experience of my life,” Gabriel Bortoleto admitted.

“Hearing that crowd chanting my name, and thinking that one day I was the kid in the stands cheering for someone else… it’s a dream come true. Having all these Brazilian people supporting me – there are so many of us – is simply incredible,” he added.

Despite finishing the weekend with zero points, Gabriel Bortoleto discovered the power of fan support, a feeling he will carry with him for the rest of his life.

Looking ahead, the transition to Audi represents a massive opportunity for Gabriel Bortoleto to establish himself as a long-term fixture in Formula 1. While 2025 was a year of learning and emotional highs, the technical challenge awaiting him with a works-backed team will be the ultimate test of his talent. If the support he received in Sao Paulo is any indication, he won’t be lacking in motivation as he strives to put Brazil back on the top step of the podium.
