Franco Colapinto has become a star in Argentina. Since his debut with Williams at the Monza GP, replacing Logan Sargeant for the remainder of the season, the young driver has impressed everyone.
His first points came in Baku with an eighth-place finish, followed by another points finish at the United States Grand Prix. In four races, the Argentine has managed to place in the top ten twice.
His talent has not gone unnoticed in the paddock, catching the attention of Red Bull and Alpine. However, there are those who believe he is not ready to debut in Formula 1 next year. In Brazil, two consecutive incidents have led many to question whether he is truly prepared to race for a top team like Red Bull.
Criticism has not only targeted his performance on the track but also his personal life. In recent weeks, the 21-year-old driver was spotted with Argentine model and actress China Suárez, who is eleven years older than him and has three children. Fans of the Williams driver cried scandal, forcing his manager Jamie Campbell-Walter to step in.
“Listen carefully because I will say this only once,” he wrote on X. “Enough with your opinions, enough with your insults, and stop telling us how we should do our job. I will handle it, and I don’t need further comments. I was here long before any of you started supporting Franco. And I will be here afterward as well.”
He concluded with an appeal: “Everyone makes mistakes, and he will learn from them. Let’s focus on Las Vegas and the races, but to do so, I need all of you to stay quiet.”
