Max Verstappen will become a father this year: will the arrival of his first child complicate his Formula 1 season? The four-time world champion is coming off a remarkable win in Suzuka, where he took pole position and went on to dominate the race.
We’re only at the fourth Grand Prix of 2025 and the true pecking order is still unclear. One thing is certain: McLaren, so far, has proven untouchable. In Bahrain, where high temperatures will pose a challenge to all drivers, talk in the paddock isn’t just focused on racing but also on the Red Bull driver. Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet announced the pregnancy of their first child last December. The baby is expected to arrive soon, with a due date set for early summer.
However, the F1 calendar is packed, and we are currently in the middle of a triple-header. Between the Japanese GP in April and Spain in June, several races are scheduled. Will the world champion have to skip any of them to attend the birth of his child?
Helmut Marko has dispelled all doubts. The due date is close to the Miami GP and “doesn’t overlap with any of Max’s on-track activities,” the Red Bull advisor told Krone Zeitung.
The magazine stated that the baby is expected on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, two days after the Miami Grand Prix. After that, there will be a break until the Emilia Romagna GP on May 18.
Max Verstappen will become the second father on the current Formula 1 grid after Nico Hulkenberg, who had a daughter in 2021. Until last year, the grid also included fellow driver-parents Sergio Pérez and Kevin Magnussen.
