Max Verstappen targets Singapore victory
Red Bull is gearing up for the Singapore weekend. After a highly competitive Baku, with Max Verstappen taking the win and Yuki Tsunoda finishing sixth, the Austrian team is aiming for a hat-trick with the Dutch driver, who has yet to claim a victory in Singapore. “The last two races were fantastic for the team; we’ve made significant progress, found a positive setup for the car, and are moving in the right direction,” said the four-time world champion. “Both were low downforce tracks where we had good results, whereas Singapore is quite different, so it will be more of a test.”
“It’s a physically demanding track for all drivers, and it’s really about feeling comfortable with what is inherently uncomfortable. It’s an interesting street circuit to drive, but of course, I’ve never won there, so you could say I have unfinished business. We need a strong performance from the team, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the weekend brings,” he added.
Positive vibes for Tsunoda
Yuki Tsunoda also arrives in Singapore with confidence following his strong performance in Baku, aiming to return to the points. “The last race was very positive for the team and for me. I feel that I’m moving in the right direction with the car, and the hard work we’ve done is paying off during the race weekend. Baku is obviously a unique circuit, and Singapore will be very different for us, presenting its own challenges,” admitted Tsunoda.
Singapore is a unique track with numerous factors that can provide an advantage—or a disadvantage—to teams due to the high humidity. “There are so many things that come into play there: the humidity, the night race, the street circuit. It’s one of the most challenging events we have as drivers, but that’s what makes it fun, and I enjoy preparing and racing there. I visited the factory before this race and spent some time with everyone during debriefings. Seeing how many people are working to make a difference on track is incredible and makes you want to push even harder,” the Japanese driver highlighted.
“I also stopped by Tokyo with Red Bull before coming to Singapore, and being with my fans is another huge motivation that I’ll carry with me into this weekend,” he concluded. Only a few hours remain before we find out what kind of weekend it will be for the Red Bull duo.
