After a rather disappointing 2024 Formula 1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, criticism continues to be directed at McLaren driver Lando Norris.
The opportunity was a golden one. A pole position with Max Verstappen only seventeenth was something that had to be capitalized on to keep the World Championship battle alive. Lando Norris’s Brazilian Grand Prix, however, was quite disappointing, once again opening the door to criticism.
The British driver finished in sixth place and now finds himself 62 points behind the Red Bull driver. With three races left in the season, it seems practically impossible to see a comeback from the number 4 driver, who would need at least a zero from Max Verstappen to continue hoping for the World Championship title.
The performance at Interlagos once again attracted criticism of Lando Norris. This time, it was Martin Brundle’s turn to try to explain what is missing from the McLaren driver. “He still needs to improve. He has won incredible races like Zandvoort or Singapore, where he was able to pull away, just like Max does.” – he pointed out at the end Brazilian Grand Prix in Interlagos.
“He lacks experience in fighting for the championship,” Martin Brundle pointed out. “But I’m sure he will learn a lot from this season. Sometimes, one wonders if he has that killer instinct that allows Verstappen to win certain duels.”
According to Martin Brundle, it will be the start of the 2024 Formula 1 season that makes the difference in the outcome of the championship. “I think the fact that Max won seven of the first ten races put him out of contention for the title.”
