F1 | Horner at Haas: Komatsu confirms contact with the former Red Bull boss
The future of Christian Horner continues to fuel speculation across the Formula 1 paddock, and the latest rumors point towards Haas. Following his sensational departure from Red Bull, where he reached a financial agreement that released him from all contractual obligations, the former team principal from England is now evaluating fresh opportunities. Among them is a potential path towards Haas, as confirmed directly by the American team’s current principal, Ayao Komatsu.
Speaking to the media on Thursday in Singapore, Komatsu explained: “It’s true that he contacted us and that one of our people had an exploratory conversation, let’s put it that way. But it ended there. There is nothing else to add.” His comments confirm that initial contact took place, removing any doubts about Horner’s interest, but at the same time, they shut the door — at least for now — on any concrete developments.
Horner linked with Haas: Komatsu provides confirmation
The Haas possibility joins a growing list of potential destinations for Horner. For some time, his name has been linked with Alpine, thanks in part to his personal relationship with Flavio Briatore, but also with Ferrari, even during his time leading Red Bull, well before the circumstances that led to his exit. Yet none of these options appear to be close to materializing at this stage.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, Horner accepted a lower payout in his settlement with Red Bull in order to return to the Formula 1 world as soon as possible with a new role. This decision underscores his determination to get back into the sport quickly rather than wait on the sidelines.
Haas could represent a convenient solution from a logistical standpoint. With a base in Silverstone, the team would allow Christian Horner to remain close to home without the need for major relocation. At the same time, there are those who speculate that the former team boss may even be considering an entirely new project. Current FIA regulations still leave open the possibility for an additional team to join Formula 1, subject to approval. If Horner were to pursue such an endeavor, it would mark a truly dramatic turning point in his career.
For now, the only certainty is that contact has been made with Haas, and Horner has shown clear intent not to remain away from the F1 paddock for long. The big question is what his next step will be — and the motorsport world will be watching closely over the coming weeks.
