During the podium ceremony in Brazil, Lando Norris once again faced boos from the crowd — and according to circulating videos, a Racing Bulls employee may have been the one encouraging the reaction. The Faenza-based team quickly responded to the controversy.
As the top three finishers celebrated after the Brazilian Grand Prix, the atmosphere turned unpleasant. While Lando Norris was on the podium, the British driver was loudly booed by sections of the crowd, and a video that began spreading online appeared to show a Racing Bulls staff member inciting the fans. The team’s response came almost immediately.
In recent years, Formula 1 has been increasingly affected by what many now call the “toxic fandom” phenomenon — a trend that risks undermining the spirit of sport. Throughout this season, both drivers and team personnel have found themselves at the center of unpleasant episodes. One recent case also came from Brazil, involving Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer, Riccardo Adami.
Among the drivers most frequently targeted has been Lando Norris. He was booed beneath the podium at Monza, the same happened in the United States and Mexico, and once again in Brazil. Clearly, the McLaren driver does not seem to be among the most popular figures within certain parts of the paddock.
However, what happened at Interlagos was different. As shown in the video, a Racing Bulls employee appeared to be leading the boos directed at Norris before being swiftly stopped by other team members. The footage quickly went viral, sparking widespread criticism from fans and journalists alike.
The Racing Bulls response
Once aware of the incident, the Faenza-based team released an official statement the following morning: “We are aware of the video filmed beneath the podium in Brazil last weekend. We would like to make it clear that it does not in any way reflect the values or spirit of our team. The matter has been handled internally. We believe in showing respect to every driver, team, and fan, both on and off the track.”
