FIA checks the legality of Mercedes and McLaren: here’s what was found

In the week leading up to the Austrian Grand Prix, the FIA released a detailed document outlining the inspections carried out after the Canadian Grand Prix.

According to the regulations, FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer has the right to inspect one or more of the top ten finishers, as well as cars randomly selected.

Following the race in Montréal, the Mercedes of George Russell and the McLaren of Oscar Piastri were subjected to technical checks.

Specifically, the Federation focused on the “low-pressure fuel system” and, on the electrical side, “on the connection to the SECU (Standard Electronic Control Unit) and on the homologation of sensors and actuators.”

According to the official document below, “all inspected components were found to be in compliance with the 2025 Technical Regulations.”
